Fal Kahve
Coffee poured into a cup as steam rises

Kahve falı · Sultanahmet

Your cup already knows

Thick coffee brewed on hot sand in the old city. When the telve settles, we read what it leaves behind.

The ritual

Turn the cup

Kahve falı is read in the telve - the grounds the last sip leaves behind.

  1. Drink

Slowly, down to the telve. Leave the last dark sip in the cup.

  2. Turn

Cover the cup with its saucer, make a wish, turn it toward your heart.

  3. Wait

While the cup cools, the grounds slide and settle.

  4. Read

The falcı lifts the cup; the shapes left behind begin to speak.

A letter you stopped waiting for is already written. - The bird in your cup faces the rim - news moves toward you. - Three days, three lights. Watch the third.

The reading

What the telve leaves

Ask the cup one question, then scroll: the grounds turn, settle, and answer that question alone.

Ask the cup

A ring near the rim: someone circles back before the month turns. - Two birds share one branch - the quarrel ends first, then the letter. - A heart lies at the bottom, heavy with sugar. Answer it slowly.

Every cup is read once, then rinsed. No fortune repeats.

The sand

Fire, sand, patience

Our cezve never touches flame. It sinks into the hot sand of an ocak on Divanyolu, and the coffee rises slowly, three times, without breaking its foam.

After the last sip the cup is covered, turned toward the heart, and left to cool. When the telve settles, the falcı lifts the cup and reads what remains.

Fortune session

Book a reading

One cup, one reading; no notes taken.

Whoever turns a cup tonight walks home lighter. - A window seat waits where the candles lean. - Come curious; leave knowing one thing more.

Readings begin after 18:00 at the window tables. Coffee first - the cup speaks later.
